Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth Break Up Thought in February? 'Wrecking Ball' Singer Reveals Desire to Leave Relationship, Inspired 'Bangerz' Song 'Drive' on Valentine's Day [VIDEO]
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth announced that they had broken off their engagement earlier this month, to very little surprise from celebrity-watchers who paid attention to their relationship. Things had been rocky between the "Last Song" couple for a while, and in a new interview with Fashion (via The Daily Mail), Cyrus may have admitted that she actually wanted to leave the relationship back in February.
When speaking about her upcoming album "Bangerz" and one track on the album "Drive," Cyrus discussed the heartbreaking inspiration behind the song. "I wrote it while I was working on Valentine's Day -- emotionally it was such a hard time. It is about needing to leave someone but not really wanting to completely cut yourself off from the relationship," she said. "It's a time when you want to leave but you can't. It's also about moving on."
While Cyrus didn't explicitly say "Drive" was about Hemsworth, it's not hard to put two and two together.
Though the song has yet to be heard by the public, "Drive" will appear on "Bangerz." Cyrus announced the song is the album's ninth track via her Twitter account earlier this month.
It is known that "Drive" is not the only song on "Bangerz" about a troubled relationship or break up. "Wrecking Ball," the album's second single and current No. 1 song in America, is also about trying to make a relationship work. "Don't you ever say I just walked away / I will always want you / I can't live a lie, running for my life / I will always want you," she sings in the song's emotional bridge.
"Bangerz," the album which features "Drive" and "Wrecking Ball" will be released Oct. 8. Cyrus covers the November issue of Fashion.
