Guido Barilla, chairman and CEO of the popular pasta brand Barilla, made these controversial anti-gay remarks during an Italian show radio interview with "La Zanzara" -

"I would never do [a commercial] with a homosexual couple, not for lack of respect but because we don't agree with them. Ours is a classic family where the woman plays a fundamental role... Ours is a classic family where the woman plays a fundamental role... if [gays] don't like it then they will not eat it and they will eat another brand."

Several people are now boycotting the brand, including a slew of well-known celebrities and chefs:

@chrissyteigen: "There are so many pasta jokes on my timeline and I'm dying/loving them but let us not love too much and remember to hate Barilla."

@jodipicoult: "Thinking of lasagne? Skip over Barilla pasta."

@ChopTedAllen: "Funny/weird, considering Barilla once hired me for a national PR gig - while Queer Eye was on the air..."

@ChefMark: "This is where #BarillaPasta belongs: in the garbage! I invite you to throw out your #Barilla. Guido..."

After his remarks went viral, Barilla later apologized in a public statement: "I only wanted to underline the central role of the woman in the family."
