X-Men Days of Future Past Plot: Evan Peters Talks Quicksilver, Special Effects, 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Counterpart
Evan Peters will play Quicksilver in the 2014 superhero movie mash-up X-Men: Days of Future Past. The character will also appear in the 2015 film The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Peters spoke to IGN recently about the character, special effects and his Avengers counterpart. Here are some highlights:
On making Quicksilver's super speed effects:
"They used motion capture. I don't know what I can say about it and not get in trouble, I really don't. But they shot a lot of slow motion. They brought in an amazing camera, the Phantom. It's, like, 3600 frames per second. They brought in these huge, bright lights and did some amazing, amazing stuff with it. I'm excited to see it all cut together and check all that out. It's going to be really cool."
On how his character is different from the comics' version:
"Bryan Singer has a lot of creative freedom on these X-Men movies. He can do pretty much whatever he wants with them. There's always that risk (of negative fan reaction), but I think at the end of the day, you want to try to make the best movie you can. You kinda gotta go with your gut on that."
On his Avengers counterpart:
"Well, my character can't be in The Avengers. It's going to be a different one. It won't be me. It'll be someone else. But yeah, I didn't focus too much on it. I mean, what an amazing opportunity to be a part of X-Men. I'm gonna try to do the best job that I can and not let anyone down. That was pretty much where I was at with it. I just thought it was really cool to be a part of all the special effects stuff and the movies that I grew up loving. It's awesome."
