Saturday Night Live Recap [VIDEOS]: October 5, 2013, Miley Cyrus Hosts and is SNL Musical Guest
Miley Cyrus' hosting and musical performance duties on this week's Saturday Night Live were enjoyable but also very predictable. It was great to see the 20-year-old in a number of sketches, but overall it felt too "by-the-numbers" in terms of subject matter. That said there were still plenty of laughs at Miley's expense. Let's check out some of the highlights from the latest episode of SNL!
SNL didn't waste any time in poking fun at Miley's controversial Video Music Awards performance from over the summer. As you might have guessed from Miley's previous hosting duties back in 2011, the "We Can't Stop" songstress was a great sport. This sketch made fun of her performance outfit, Robin Thicke and even Miley's signature tongue pose.
Check it out right here:
Miley's monologue was pretty much the same as the cold open, in that Cyrus spent a lot of time making fun of herself and addressing the VMA performance. She got some solid jokes in, though. Check it out:
Does it seem like the cold open could have been dropped for the better jokes in the monologue?
It's always nice to see an "audition" pre-taped sketch on Saturday Night Live. For a show full of great impersonators, these sketches highlight some of the cast members' best talents. So making fun of celebrities trying out for Fifty Shades of Grey, it's hard not to admire the young cast.
And here's another parody of Miley's career mixed with the government shutdown:
