Justin Bieber 'Heartbreaker' Released Early: New Single from 'Baby' Singer Leads Music Mondays, Music Journal Project, Highly Anticipated Single is Mature, Slow Burning Track [LISTEN]
After months and months of anticipation, Justin Bieber's new single "Heartbreaker" has been released.
As hinted at by Bieber, “Heartbreaker” addresses the emotional turmoil after a particularly heavy break up. “This is personal, just between me and you / I want you to know that I still love you / Even though the seasons may change,” Bieber speaks. Likely written about his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez, the lyrics are quite revelatory for a pop song. “I still believe in love / I still believe in us,” he sings with pain in his voice.
Musically, “Heartbreaker” is incredibly slow in tempo and slightly repetitive. If not for the interesting, introspective lyrics, it would teeter on boring. Heavy bass drumbeats and old school keyboard instrumentation are the main players in “Heartbreaker.” It’s notably mature for Bieber and recalls old school R&B.

"Heartbreaker" is the first single released from Bieber as a part of Music Mondays, a new project for the singer wherein he will release one new song at midnight every Monday from Oct. 7 to Dec. 9. Bieber and his manager Scooter Braun teased that "Heartbreaker" and other new music from the "Baby" singer would be released in a "unique manner," and Music Mondays is, indeed, a new way to debut singles.
Bieber has also confirmed that the releases from Music Mondays are a part of his music journals on Twitter. "These songs are different. These are my #journals," he wrote on Oct. 6.
Bieber's fans, commonly known as Beliebers, have been anxious for the new single for months now. Following Bieber's announcement Oct. 2 that "Heartbreaker" finally received a release date, the song title regularly trended on Twitter, and fans took to the streets to hang up fliers and spread the word about the new music.
