Snoop Dogg/Lion & Dâm-Funk are 7 Days of Funk [VIDEO]: Duo Announces New Album, Release New Song 'Faden Away' [LISTEN]
Legendary rapper Snoop Lion (A.K.A. Snoop Dogg) and producer Dâm-Funk have officially teamed up for a new project called 7 Days of Funk. They announced the collaboration this week with news of a self-titled full-length album available December 10 (via Stones Throw). 7 Days of Funk also released its first song entitled "Faden Away." Take a listen below!
"Snoop knew what I was thinking without me having to articulate it. That's how you know when you gel artistically with someone," Dâm-Funk explained in a Press Release about the collaboration. "These beats were made for him and he laid down some of the smoothest harmonies and melodies I've ever heard. It's hip-hop, but you can also hear what we grew up on, from Zapp to Evelyn 'Champagne' King and Patrice Rushen."
"We're the babies of the Mothership," Snoop Lion said. "I've had funk influences in my music my whole career. Dâm-Funk is cold. He's keeping the funk alive and I knew I had to get down with him."
As a tribute to funk music legend Bootsie Collins, Snoop has once again changed his moniker. For 7 Days of Funk, he will go by the name Snoopzilla, which is similar to what Collins used to call himself - Bootzilla.
Guests on the upcoming album will include Daz Dillinger, Kurupt, and Steve Arrington according to Pitchfork.
