The latest promotional teaser for the upcoming second season of FOX's hit show The Following reintroduces fans to Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) in a very creepy way. Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) might have put an end to Carroll last season, but he can't seem to move on. Hardy is "haunted" by Carroll in the upcoming season, starting in 2014, and has to go through life with the murderer stuck in his head. (SPOILERS to follow)

"The greatest trick the Devil ever played was convincing the world he did not exist," Ryan says as Joe finishes the sentence. These two characters are quite similar in many ways, so the imagery of Hardy transforming into Carroll was fitting though still very creepy.

According to these exclusive new looks into the second season of The Following, it seems pretty apparent that Hardy is convinced that there is a big chance that Carroll is still alive.

Is he committing more murders? Is her writing a new book? Odds are, if he's still out there, he's building his following considering it lost many members last season. But then again, we never really knew exactly how large the following actually was to begin with. Perhaps Joe has just moved on to a different location with a new group of his followers.
