Ron Howard Says Cast Members Want To Make Arrested Development Season 5

Ron Howard narrated, produced and acted in the cult comedy classic Arrested Development. Howard recently addresses the rumors of Season 5 or a movie that continue to swirl and he clarified where everyone stands on the subject.

Howard told Entertainment Weekly Radio on SiriusXM that the entire cast is ready and willing to keep going.

"Everybody wants to do more," Howard said. "Mitch (Hurwitz) did initiate the whole thing as the beginning of a kind of mystery that needs to be solved and somehow or another I'd be shocked if we didn't find a way to solve it and do that."

But then, Howard dropped the bad news that "everybody is incredibly busy" and that "there's no timetable. No writing has begun." Of course, he softened the blow with the news that "creatively, I think it is everybody's intention (to do more)."

Finally, Howard addressed the mild controversy surrounding the structure and quality of Season 4, which released as 13 episodes all at once on Netflix.

"Some fans were thrown by the fact that the episodes sort of intersected," Howard said. "I thought it was sort of ingenious. It was this amazing novelistic version of the show."

Howard's words seem to contradict what Will Arnett, who plays Gob Bluth, told E! Online recently:

"Shawn: What's the status of Arrested Development maybe sort of possibly doing more episodes for Netflix?

Will Arnett tells us that more Bluth family hijinks are ahead, it's just the format that is being worked out. 'I can't really confirm precisely what's happening, but I can tell you that we are actively working on something right now,' the man behind Gob reveals. 'Once we have that nailed down then there will be more of an official announcement to come from Mitch Hurwitz. It's something that we're all open to doing and I think we're going to do.' Bring on the bees!"
