No reason to lay that "Modern Guilt" on Beck anymore. According to Billboardthe always-changing alternative rocker has signed to Capitol Records and will release an album of all-new material in February 2014, his first in over six years.

The album, titled Morning Phase, will be Beck's first since 2008's Modern Guilt, which included such hits as "Gamma Ray" and "Chemtrails." It will be Beck's 12th studio album overall.

According to a press release, Morning Phase will be the "spiritual successor" to Beck's 2002 album Sea Change and will include many of the same musicians, including Justin Mendal-Johnsen and Jason Falkner. While the harmonic implications of Sea Change will remain intact for the record, the new album will "surge forward with infectious optimism," giving a new life and new chapter to the classic break up album.

Little else is known about Morning Phase right now, including an exact release date or tracklist.

Morning Phase will be Beck's first effort with Capitol Records. Following the release of Modern Guilt in 2008, he completed his contract with Interscope and has been floating around ever since.

But that doesn't mean Beck has been stagnant. Last year, he dropped an album full of sheet music, which was eventually played in full live in London. Beck also dropped two new singles this year, "I Won't Be Long" and "Defriended."
