Updates on The Walking Dead Spinoff Location and Time
The Walking Dead spinoff was confirmed last month and AMC will soon have two zombie apocalypse shows occupying its airwaves. But with the announcement came the curiosity about the spinoff's location and time relative to the main series.
Series creator Robert Kirkman spoke to TV Guide about that subject and the site reports the following in its "Mega Buzz" column:
"What info do you have on The Walking Dead spinoff? -Tom
It will be set in an entirely different location. 'Georgia has become a character in itself on The Walking Dead that is very unique and very visually interesting, so we would want to find a new location that has similar appeal so it can be its own character in the spin-off,' executive producer Robert Kirkman says, adding that they haven't decided on the timeline yet. 'It can be minute one [of the outbreak]; it can be it can be the next-to-last minute,' he adds. 'We're very excited about being able to go anywhere we want to go as a starting point.' Anyone else vote for minute one in Los Angeles?"
Another idea that has floated around the Internet would be to simply run the spinoff parallel to The Walking Dead but set it in another location, possibly internationally. But perhaps a more interesting idea would be what Kirkman suggested above: to set the spinoff before or at the time of the outbreak. It would be fascinating to see how the world reacted to the initial outbreak and how civilization fell apart.
Fans will hopefully find out the spinoff's details sooner rather than later.
