This is a big week for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. First we were treated to an extended, extra-long trailer for the upcoming Peter Jackson film and then singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran shared his new song "I See Fire" from the movie's soundtrack! Though these are great updates for the film, 20 minutes of footage from the upcoming movie were shown worldwide at special Desolation of Smaug celebration events in cities like New York, Sydny, Los Angeles, London and more!

On top of the footage shown at these events, some stars were in attendance at selected cities. For instance, Orlando Bloom attended the event in New York City. While there, he revealed that he was worried that fans wouldn't want his character, Legolas, in The Hobbit films.

"I concerned that as Legolas isn't written into the books, maybe there would be some conflict there with fans," he admitted. "But one thing I know about Pete is that Pete has one eye very clearly on the Tolkien world and also on making a fantastic movie. He's brilliant at creating moments with characters."

In Los Angeles, Evangeline Lilly shared her inspiration for her character, Tauriel.

"One of the things I intentionally did when I was preparing for this role was to not go back and watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy," Lilly said. "Because one of the things I was afraid of was that I would try and copy the performances of Liv Tyler and Cate Blanchett. One of my inspirations that I used when I was preparing Tauriel was Tinkerbell. Tink is a badass little fairy. She's tiny and she's cute, but she is fierce, and you don't want to get on the wrong side of Tink."
