Xbox One will offer achievements for gamers that watch TV shows and movies

The brand new video game console, the Xbox One, just revealed that there is a new way for gamers to earn achievements in the Xbox world. According to a news update over at Xbox.com, gamers that watch television shows and/or movies with their new Xbox One console will earn achievements as they would by unlocking features in certain games.

Though this news update was mostly about video streaming for the console, it also confirmed this new achievements method. Check out this

"We set out to make Xbox One the all-in-one games and entertainment hub for your home. The one system that offers the best games next to the best entertainment experiences and apps," Xbox Chief Product Officer Marc Whitten explained. "Along with offering a stellar app portfolio from around the world, Xbox One takes the next step by offering them in a way that is seamless and easy to use."

This update also released the networks and other streaming entertainment companies available on the Xbox One, which can then lead to achievements. Here is the list for the United States:

  • ESPN
  • FOX NOW
  • FXNOW
  • HBO GO (coming soon)
  • Hulu Plus
  • Machinima
  • MUZU TV
  • Netflix
  • Redbox Instant by Verizon
  • Target Ticket
  • TED
  • The NFL on Xbox One
  • Twitch
  • Univision Deportes
  • Verizon FiOS TV
  • VUDU
