Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Reveals Upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Plans, The Avengers 2 and 3 [VIDEO]
Marvel Studios is currently in Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is currently planned out for the better part of this decade. The Avengers: Age of Ultron will be the culmination of Phase Two, but the mid-credits scene in Thor: The Dark World seemed to tease something greater for Phase Three.
The scene in Thor: The Dark World showed two of the Warriors Three bringing The Aether to The Collector (Benicio Del Toro), who remarks "one down, five to go." This was the first clear reference to the Infinity Stones, the six objects that unite to form the Infinity Gauntlet, a weapon of godlike power that give the owner the power to pretty much rule the universe. That, combined with the appearance of Thanos at the end of The Avengers, has led fans to believe that the MCU is building toward a Thanos/Infinity Gauntlet storyline for The Avengers 3.
In a video interview with Screen Rant, Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige revealed some details about the upcoming plans for the MCU, along with The Avengers 2 and The Avengers 3. Here's what he had to say when asked about the aforementioned potential plan:
I don't know that I would spell it out that clearly, necessarily, but certainly fans of the comics could surmise that all of this is leading somewhere. Joss' decision to have Thanos turn around, smile to the audience at the end of 'Avengers', it was always the plan to show that the Tesseract was indeed an infinity stone. A lot of that will tie first into 'Guardians of The Galaxy' which comes out next year and then where it goes from there we'll see.
