Selena Gomez Says No to Fifty Shades of Grey; Ian Somerhalder Pursues Christian Grey Role
Young and sweet actress Selena Gomez said she cannot do the character of Anastacia Steel, while Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder continued his campaign to get the role of Christian Grey in the film adaptation of erotic novel "Fifty Shades of Grey."
It seems that Selena is not letting go of her charming and goody-two-shoes image for challenging and sexy roles. Former Disney star Selena Gomez is one of the speculated choices to play the daunting role of Anastacia Steele, a college graduate introduced in the world of BSDM by manipulative Christian Grey. Selena said that the role may be too much for her.
Selena admitted that she read the first part of the novel for the parody that she did of the book.
"I don't think I would [take on the role]. I know I'm taking risks, but I don't think I could do that! That would be a little too much for me. I think someone older should do that part," Selena said to MTV News.
the other, publicly expressed his desires to star in the film adaptation of E.L. James' erotic and BSDM trilogy. The actor continued his campaign for the said role. Ian posted in his Twitter account not only that he wants the role, he is willing to make the controversial book into a more controversial movie.
The actor also tweeted that he would like to work with American Psycho writer Bret Easton Ellis and Angelina Jolie. Bret Easton Ellis is a screenwriter who also expressed his desire to write the script for the film. Ellis said that his top choices for the roles are Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Gosling.
However, there is no word yet from Universal Pictures, which acquired the film rights of the book, on who will be directing and writing the film. Moreover, Erotic novels writer E.L. James gets to approve of the script, director and the cast as part of her deal with Universal Pictures.
"50 Shades of Grey" is a story developed from a Twilight fan fiction originally titled "Master of the Universe." At first, the piece featured characters named after Stephenie Meyer's characters in Twilight, Edward Cullen and Bella Swan.
However, after comments concerning the sexual nature of the material, James removed the story from the fanfiction websites and published it on her own website, FiftyShades.com. The author decided to rewrite the piece as an original piece with the principal characters renamed Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele and shortly prior to its publication withdrew the fan fiction version from her website for mass production.
