Earlier this week, Disney announced its new Marvel initiative bringing four comic book superheroes to Netflix for brand new, exclusive 13-episode shows. Ten earlier this week, writer Drew Goddard was put in charge of the new Daredevil series. Now Marvel has named Melissa Rosenberg as the showrunner for the new Jessica Jones series on Netflix. This leaves Iron Fist and Luke Cage still without showrunners, but that will most likely be cleared up soon.

For those of us not familiar with Rosenberg, she has an impressive career that will surely come into use for this show. She wrote the screenplays for all of the films featured in The Twilight Saga and previously wrote for Showtime's hit serial killer series Dexter. Don't worry; she left after season four (the BEST season).

Rosenberg also has a history with the Jessica Jones character. We all might remember her from Alias with Jennifer Garner portraying the comic book character, but a reboot was in the works at ABC with Rosenberg heading it up. That project apparently fell apart, but now she gets another shot at the character with this new Netflix series.

Rosenberg is used to writing for female leads (Twilight) so it will be nice to see how she uses her 13-episode series to further the success of Marvel.

What do you think of this new showrunner for this new series? Is Marvel moving in the right direction in order to establish itself on Netflix? Let us know what you think of all of this in the comments section below!
