Britney Spears documentary 'I Am Britney Jean' set to air on E! in December, leading up to Las Vegas Residency

Britney Spears is going to be the next pop star to receive her own made-for-TV documentary. Yesterday (Nov. 14) it was announced that E! will air a special 90-minute documentary called I Am Britney Jean, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

I Am Britney Jean will feature footage from Spears as she prepares for her two-year Las Vegas Residency, Britney: Piece of Me. The documentary will also chronicle the process of recording and promoting Spears' upcoming album Britney Jean, due out Dec. 3. In E!'s own words, the movie will give fans "an intimate look at one of the most overexposed yet under-revealed stars of today as she faces one of her biggest challenges ever while finishing her album, shooting videos doing press - and being a mom."

In addition to behind-the-scenes footage from Spears preparing her new album and Vegas residency, I Am Britney Jean will also feature in-depth interviews with Spears, who somehow remains an elusive star despite being one of the biggest pop acts of the past 15 years.

I Am Britney Jean will air on Dec. 22 on E! at 8 p.m., with an encore presentation at 9:30. The documentary airs less than a week before Britney: Piece of Me is set to kick off at Las Vegas' Planet Hollywood. Spears' two-year residency is set to begin on Dec. 27 at the all-new venue.

With this news, it's turning out to be a good week to be a Britney Spears fan. After "hackers who like to ruin surprises," Spears revealed the full tracklisting for Britney Jean on her Twitter and Instagram on Tuesday night.
