Ashton Kutcher speaks out about America's tendency to be lazy on 'Ellen'

Ashton Kutcher appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show yesterday and discussed his Teen Choice Awards speech, which touched on the problem with propaganda and celebrity taking over America and our youth.

It's a valid point that was presumably memorable for a lot of people, and the idea of seeking recognition as opposed to fostering the desire to build something, do something, is definitely a phenomenon relatively unique to today's generation. This is also coming from a man who has been famous for a long time and was one of the early front-runners in the celebrity circle with his insane amount of Twitter followers. He is using his current platform to speak up, though.

Perhaps his experience allows him to see even clearer why these things are not what are ultimately important. The actor said people say they want to be famous as opposed to wanting to really create something.

"All of that's kind of crap," said Kutcher. "Working hard and being generous and thoughtful and smart is a path to a better life."

In a time when the economy is still suffering and many people are looking for jobs, Kutcher says he still hears people talking about how taking a typical job would be below them, not up to their standards (presumably to pursue a dream of fame and fortune). He says to that: "I think the only thing that can be below you is to not have a job."

It's clear that during his talk with Ellen, he took advantage of stating his point very pointedly. "There's an entitlement that is starting to emerge that I think is unhealthy for people and unhealthy for our country."
