Chris Brown Checks Out of Rehab: Rapper Leaves After 16 Days to Perform Community Service For Rihanna Case
Chris Brown is on the road to recovery, or at least that is what it appears. After a little more than two weeks into his rehab program, TMZ is reporting that Brown has checked out. Whether this is a good thing or band thing remains to be seen. Brown checked into a rehab facility in Malibu after he allegedly got into a street fight in Washington D.C. It's alleged that Brown punched a guy in the face. This was just the latest in violent altercations involving the troubled rapper.
TMZ reports that Brown was expected to stay in rehab for three months. Instead, about 16 days later Brown is out. According to TMZ's sources, the rehab facility was told to take Brown "apart and put him back together." Can that be done in just over two weeks?
Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, tells TMZ that Brown needed to check out in order to perform his community service pending from his case with Rihanna. Brown will reportedly continue to perform outpatient therapy.
Brown's lawyer seems to be a very busy man. The New York Daily News reports that in another Brown case, the rapper is counter suing a female fan for defamation after she claimed that Brown assaulted her at a nightclub in Anaheim. The woman was described as being "heavily intoxicated" and in a "drunken stupor" in the lawsuit. The woman, Deanna Gines is claiming that Brown shoved her to the ground during a concert at the Heat Ultra Lounge. Gines claims that she injured her knee when Brown pushed her to the ground.
The NY Daily News reports that Brown is seeking punitive damages after Gines filed battery and assault charges in July. It's hard to say who is telling the truth. While I'm sure many people make false claims to try and get money from celebrities, Brown clearly has a checkered past.
