Last week Mstars and countless other movie news websites reported on the new Warner Bros. Pictures project focusing on the origin story of Peter Pan. As of now, Deadline is calling the movie Pan and filmmaker Joe Wright (Pride and Prejudice, Atonement, Hanna) is in talks to direct the film. This week brings new news on the project and it's a huge casting announcement. Warner Bros. is eyeing Javier Bardem for the part of notorious pirate Blackbeard for the Peter Pan movie.

According to reports, the role was offered to the The Counselor star and if he takes it he would be the main villain for the promising film. This character would be troubling Neverland, leading Peter to lead a rebellion against him.

Since this is an origin story, we're not sure if Captain Hook will even be involved, but having another menacing pirate captain involved, and especially the infamous Blackbeard, would definitely be fitting substitute for the amputee with a vendetta against Peter.

Bardem hasn't accepted the role yet, but he would definitely be this writer's choice for a villainous role. He's no stranger to the antagonist character of a film; in fact he won the Academy Award for "Best Supporting Actor" for such a role in No Country for Old Men. Imagine what the actor in the role of a fantasy film's main villain.

Just like Bardem, director Wright hasn't signed on yet either. But the two of these big names working on such a project is incredibly promising. So here's to hoping they sign on for the film and we get to see this movie sooner rather than later!
