Britney Spears releases underwhelming 'Perfume' lyric video, announces she's filming official music video on Twitter [WATCh]
Britney Spears has released the official lyric video for "Perfume," and it's... well, a lyric video.
The clip features images of city skylines zooming by, a lonely (kind of crappy) hotel room and plenty of CGI spinning perfume bottles against a purple background. Spears herself is nowhere to be found in the clip, as is traditional with lyric videos, but this one particularly underwhelms.
Perhaps it's the bar that was raised when Lady Gaga dropped "Applause" or when Katy Perry did the fun emoji-filled "Roar" video. Full of personality, those clips elevated the lyric video to new heights, making simple declarations of lyrics isn't enough. The theme of the song has to be included, as well, and "Perfume" just doesn't make the cut.
Anyway, watch the lyric video for Britney Spears' "Perfume" below:
Though the lyric video for "Perfume" underwhelms, this isn't the last we'll see of the song. This clip precedes the release of the official music video for the second Britney Jean single, though Spears has hinted that she's working on the clip. As she debuted this version of "Perfume" on Twitter, the "Work B----" singer also told fans what she's been up to. "On set shooting my Perfume music video!" she blatantly wrote.
As the video is just in the works, it has no official release date, but Britney fans should be able to expect the "Perfume" video ahead of the Britney Jean release on Dec. 3.
