The story of the West Memphis Three incident from back in 1993 is a widely known true tale that has been highly publicized and covered in the media and documentaries. So when talented director Atom Egoyan decided to take on the subject matter in the first scripted film about the murder, one considers the risks and uncomfortableness of such a project. But this week we're treated to our first look at this movie entitled Devil's Knot, starring Colin Firth, Reese Witherspoon, Dane DeHaan, Mireille Enos, Bruce Greenwood, Elias Koteas, Stephen Moyer, and Amy Ryan.

Devil's Knot does not have a United States release date yet, but you can still check out the trailer right here:

Here is an excerpt from the Toronto Film Festival's official description of the film:

When three young boys were brutally murdered in the small community of West Memphis, Arkansas, in 1993, their deaths led to shock and outrage in this tightly knit religious town. It wasn't long before three teenagers were arrested, tried, and sentenced - two of them to life imprisonment and one to death - despite the fact that they all claimed innocence. This story of wrongful conviction roiled the American justice system, brought a number of prominent movie stars and rock musicians to the defense of the three young men, and resulted in a trilogy of documentaries, Paradise Lost, that did much to keep the case in the public eye.
