'Back to the Future' Reunion on 'The Michael J. Fox Show'
Michael J. Fox will go back to his roots on his NBC sitcom The Michael J. Fox Show. The man who once played Marty McFly will have a guest appearance on his show from Christopher Lloyd, who played Dr. Emmett Brown (Doc) in the Back to the Future trilogy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lloyd will play the role of a high school principal where Annie Henry (Betsy Brandt), the wife of Fox's character Mike Henry, works.
Fox has had a remarkable comeback with the new sitcom after difficulties with his progressing Parkinson's disease led him to leave Spin City in 2001. Since he left that show he has appeared in a variety of shows, including Boston Legal, Scrubs and Curb Your Enthusiasm. He is well known for his roles in Teen Wolf, Doc Hollywood and the show that started it all, Family Ties.
Fox appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone's September issue and in the interview he talked about how his disease has actually made him a better actor.
"I had a certain fluidity to my movements and rhythm of speech and a physicality that I had depended on," he said. "It served me really well, but when that was taken away, I found that there was other stuff that I could use. That hesitation, that Parkinsonian affect, is an opportunity to just pause in a moment and collect as a character and respond to what's happening and just gave me this kind of gravitas. It really gave me a new view of things."
The Michael J. Fox Show airs on Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. on NBC.
