The X Factor USA 2013 Top 10 Results
The X Factor aired its Top 10 results show on Thursday night and eliminated two more acts to trim the competition down to the Top 8. The show featured guest performances and a host of other antics, so let's get to it.
The first elimination of the night sent home Khaya Cohen, who had the lowest number of votes for the week. She called her time on the show "a fun experience" but looked like she knew it was coming.
One Direction, the boy band that Simon Cowell brought together on the UK version of The X Factor and that has exploded into one of the most popular acts in the world, performed their latest radio hit "Story of My Life."
Host Mario Lopez announced that the following acts had advanced to next week:
Alex & Sierra
Ellona Santiago
Jeff Gutt
Josh Levi
Lillie McCloud
Restless Road
Rion Page
That meant that Paulina Rubio's two acts, Tim Olstad and Carlito Olivero, would sing for survival. And let's just say the two singers took very different approaches when Lopez asked them about having to sing again.
"I love my team, I love my mentor, I love all the judges. My God is almighty, and I'm goin' hard tonight." - Carlito Olivero
"I put up with a lot in the last couple weeks and stuff like that with the bad comments. But I've come back every week fighting, and I hope that I'm gonna be doing that in the next couple minutes." - Tim Olstad
Tim Olstad sang Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up" and performed admirably, but he never really hit the big note he needed or brought out the emotion necessary to deliver the KO punch. Carlito Olivero sang "Beneath Your Beautiful" and had much more emotion and gusto in his performance.
The judges then voted. Kelly Rowland first decided to eliminate Tim Olstad, and Demi Lovato did the same. Then it came to Paulina, who took what felt like 30 minutes to make a decision. But she eventually decided to eliminate Tim.
