Lana Del Rey, Mac Miller Producing Daniel Johnston Film

Seriously beloved/troubled Texas singer-songwriter Daniel Johnston will soon have a documentary made about him. The film is being financed/executive produced by those bastions of the underground... Lana Del Rey and Mac Miller? Wait, seriously?

...the filmmaker Gabriel Sunday is using Kickstarter to help put together a short film called Hi, How Are You, which will feature Johnston, and both Miller and LDR threw a ton of money at it. Miller contributed $10,000 and got an executive producer credit, and he also celebrated by having one of Johnston's drawings tattooed on his leg. (There's a picture here.) We don't know how much Lana Del Rey contributed, but she's got an executive producer credit, too.

According to Masked Gorilla, Miller hit up Sunday on Twitter asking how he could help make the documentary. Soon afterward, Sunday tweeted that Miller had donated $10,000 to the project, earning him an executive producer credit, Daniel's chord organ and an original piece of artwork.

Judging by his willingness to "write the score" for the film, it is safe to say that Miller's involvement will be more than just a name on a title card.
