First of all, David Tennant and Billie Piper are reprising their roles as the tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler respectively. This is clearly the biggest news, but it wasn't exactly a secret.
One of the biggest mysteries of this episode is John Hurt's involvement. We know that he is a form of the Doctor that did not use that moniker, so what exactly is he? Thanks to the episode's prequel, "The Night of the Doctor," we know that the eighth Doctor (the brilliant Paul McGann) forces his regeneration into a "warrior" for the Time Wars.
