Jean-Claude Van Damme will be joined by Adam Brody in upcoming film 'Welcome to the Jungle'
Jean-Claude Van Damme will star in the upcoming film Welcome to the Jungle, and Entertainment Weekly shared an exclusive video, which features Van Damme's unlikely costar, Adam Brody.
The martial-arts star is making a comeback of sorts with the new film and his recent Volvo commercial that went viral after Van Damme did the splits while stationed between two moving semi-trucks. He proved that he is still a strong and ridiculously nimble actor, even at age 53. As EW put it, he is in the "Chuck Norris chapter of his career."
In Welcome to the Jungle, Van Damme plays a former marine who is at an island corporate retreat where he must train office drones. Adam Brody's character and the others appear to give Van Damme some trouble, especially when the group realizes they are stranded in the wilderness.
Brody doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would appear in a film with the master of the splits, but it's actually a comedy, and Van Damme showcases his sense of humor behind his muscular frame. He appears to have pretty good comedic timing in the trailer, in the Arnold Schwarzenegger kind of way. Rob Huebel and Kristen Schaal also appear in the film.
The movie trailer shows the island misfits figuring out how to survive after their pilot dies. They discuss who they should eat first should it come to that. Van Damme, the only one who seems potentially capable of surviving on an island must deal with the increasing chaos.
Welcome to the Jungle will hit the theaters on Feb. 7. Watch the exclusive new trailer here.
