'Star Wars 7' casting calls looking for '40-something military man' based on J.J. Abrams' 'Episode VII' script changes for 2015

News surrounding the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII movie project has been few and far between, but casting calls and open auditions are still moving along for the production. After a change in writers earlier this year, director J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan are now helming the script with a few new changes coming along with it. We've all seen the casting call sheets asking for younger actors, but now a new addition has been made: a "40-something military man a la Matt Damon in Elysium."

The Hollywood Reporter broke this news earlier this week. Check out an excerpt from this story:

"Director J.J. Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy are casting the net far and wide, meeting actors in the U.S., the U.K. and Australia. The duo is looking in particular for a tough-cookie girl in the 17- to 18-year-old range and a charismatic, funny guy from 19 to 23. 'We don't want to leave any stone unturned,' U.K. casting agent Kate Bone told the BBC. With the movie now being rewritten by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, sources say producers also are looking to fill a new role: a 40-something military man a la Matt Damon in Elysium."

So how far should we read into this casting call? According to this report, the other younger roles have yet to be filled (although some rumors have been going around that one unknown was cast), but that doesn't mean there isn't room for another supporting role as this older military gentleman.

What do you think of this new casting update? Who would you like to see in this role?

Star Wars Episode VII will be released December 18, 2015, and filming is apparently starting in the next few months.
