James Purefoy reveals 'The Following' season 2 spoilers for Joe Carroll and other 2014 story details [VIDEO]

One of the biggest television hits of 2013 was the FOX thriller The Following. The Kevin Bacon-led show wowed audiences and broke viewing records as the first season made a big mark on television. Now with 2014 just around the corner, we can look forward to an even more exciting second season of the show and star James Purefoy just recently revealed a whole new batch of details on the show in a new interview.

The actor recently revealed some great new information on the upcoming season of his popular series.

"It's always fun playing somebody who enjoys himself because, of course, he does enjoy himself and he is a sadistic b*****d who enjoys what he does a great deal," he explained. "He has spent 10 years working out this extraordinary plan, doing nothing else but sitting in his cell working that one out. And it's not just the one single linear narrative, it's a flow chart of a spider's web."

James added: "Joe is an enormously complicated man and he does appalling things but strangely we like him. It's a great challenge. He is a very hard guy and is a celebrator of death - he is the most nihilistic character you could probably ever get on television. You really need to learn how to turn it on for action and off for cut."
