Paul McCartney is celebrating his 70th birthday today and we have compiled the top 5 songs from his musical career for you.

McCartney's rise to fame started with the Beatles in 1960, which became the best-selling band in history with estimated sales of over one billion units.

The British-born musician began a solo career after the band's break-up forming the group Wings with first wife Linda McCartney.

Thirty four of his solo singles have made the U.S. Top 40, according to Rolling Stone.

In the 80's he had multiple successful collaborations with Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder.

McCartney has been described as "the most successful composer and recording artist of all time," with 60 gold discs and sales of over 100 million albums and 100 million singles, according to Guinness World Records.

He has also been named the "most successful songwriter" in U.K. chart history.

His latest album "Kisses on the Bottom" was released in February.
