WWE Spoilers: Major creative changes backstage, information on backstage decision-making process

Reports emerged this week that the WWE creative plans are constantly changing, but the company has now made a major change backstage that could affect the product going forward.

WWE issued a press release on Wednesday to state that Stephanie McMahon, Michelle D. Wilson and George Barrios had been promoted to lead the company "in execution of...strategic growth initiatives." The creative department had reported to Stephanie, but the writers now report to Paul Levesque aka Triple H. WWE issued the following statement to PWInsider.com:

"Creative Writing now reports to Paul Levesque, EVP Talent and Live Events. In addition to Stephanie McMahon's expanded responsibilities as Chief Brand Officer, she will continue to maintain a presence on TV."

Furthermore, The Wrestling Observer reports that Triple H and Vince McMahon make the main decisions about the television product even though the creative team and other important members of the WWE staff have input and contribute ideas.

The company's main focus at the moment is Monday Night Raw, and WWE reportedly usually does not even address the week's episode of Friday Night Smackdown (which is actually taped on Tuesdays) until about 6 p.m. on Mondays. At that point, Vince tells the creative team to give him a main event for Smackdown and/or Main Event for the week, so the writers must hastily assemble a match so that the company can promote it on Raw. This is typically why the main event matches on the two shows change frequently by the time the company actually tapes the show.

For example, the reason WWE promoted this week's Smackdown as "CM Punk vs. a member of The Shield" is that Vince had yet to decide as of 10 p.m. on Monday which of the three men would make the best opponent for Punk on the show.
