'Top Gun 2' & 'Beverly Hills Cop 4' in development as Jerry Bruckheimer returns to Paramount after leaving Disney in 2013
Hollywood mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer this year ended his contract with Disney after an incredibly successful run. Though not slowing down, the producer has now signed a new deal with Paramount Pictures, the company he helped build in the 1980s. Of course the films he made during that time are still property of Paramount, so Bruckheimer has put the sequels to these projects at the top of his list. Are you ready for Top Gun 2?
"It is great to be back at Paramount," Bruckheimer said. "I look forward to working with Brad Grey and his entire team."
Paramount CEO Brad Grey exclaimed: "Jerry Bruckheimer is one of the most creative and prolific producers in motion picture history. His signature style has attracted huge global audiences and we are thrilled to have him back in the Paramount family."
Though this deal officially starts in April of 2014, the producer has already started developing the fourth installment of Beverly Hills Cop, which launched the career of superstar Eddie Murphy. Earlier this year the project was brought into the television world, but was scrapped and is now a movie again. We'll see how this project develops. What would you like to see happen with Beverly Hills Cop 4?
Also, Bruckheimer has also talked up working on a Top Gun sequel and now with this deal going through it looks like he can finally start developing that project, too. Do you think Tom Cruise will be involved in this sequel? What would you like to see in Top Gun 2?
It looks like the producer isn't too worried about ruining these franchises with new sequels, but again we'll have to see how these work out.
