Neil Young Announces Canadian Tour Dates

Neil Young plans to tour Canada in 2014. The man who is inexplicably hailed as a music legend despite the fact that his music is bland at best, infuriating and irritating at worst will bring his nasally brand of folk-rock blah to the Great White North for scores of folks to pretend they enjoy.

Young's Canadian tour dates are as follows:

1/12 Toronto, ON - Massey Hall
1/16 Winnipeg, MB - Centennial Concert Hall
1/17 Regina, SK - Conexus Arts Centre
1/19 Calgary, AB - Jack Singer Concert Hall

The dates will benefit the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation Legal Defense Fund. So there's your bright side if Neil Young is rolling into your town.

"A Legal Defense fund was set up to support the ACFN's legal challenges against oil companies and government that are obstructing their traditional lands and rights," according to the tour-announcing press release.  "As people of the land the ACFN have used and occupied their traditional lands in the Athabasca region for thousands of years, hunting, trapping, fishing and gathering to sustain themselves and continue spiritual cultural rights passed down through generations."

The shows will come after Young's four-night stint at Carnegie Hall in New York City in early January. Tickets go on sale tomorrow (December 10).

A European tour is planned laterin 2014, in part to make up dates missed after Crazy Horse guitarist Frank Sampedro injured his hand. Only one date has been confirmed so far: Hyde Park in London on July 12.
