Peter Jackson still wants to direct 'Doctor Who' episode
Peter Jackson would still really, really like to direct an episode of Doctor Who. The god-king of (talented) nerd directors has made it clear on multiple occasions that he would like to grab the reigns for an hour of the long-running sci-fi serial. The Hobbit director brought the idea back up in a recent interview with Digital Spy.
"I would be very happy to," Jackson said. "I'd love to try my hand at television, because I've never had the discipline of having to shoot for those impossibly tiny schedules. I think I could do it okay now."
Jackson added that the idea of a Jackson-directed Time Lord adventure is "actually kind of serious" and appears open to the idea of filming outside of New Zealand for the opportunity, though he did joke about an NZ-centric plot.
"I did suggest that they did a New Zealand story - something to do with the [rugby union] All Blacks versus the Daleks. There's a good story in there, although obviously the All Blacks would have to win!" he said.
Jackson's latest film The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug hits theatres on December 13.
