Jason Mamoa reportedly up for 'Batman vs. Superman' movie role, but whom would he play?
It's been a busy week for Batman vs. Superman movie news. First came the official announcement that Gal Gadot from The Fast & The Furious franchise would play Wonder Woman. Then came reports that the studio is considering Denzel Washington and Idris Elba to play Lex Luthor. And now, the movie may add yet another mystery character.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Jason Momoa, perhaps best known for his role as Khal Drogo on the HBO series Game of Thrones, is in negotations for a part in Batman vs. Superman, according to sources. It's unknown at the moment what role Momoa would play, but the possibilities are juicy.
THR points out that Doomsday is one possibility, especially because rumors have circulated that the character could be the main villain of the movie (the Man of Steel Blu-ray teases the character). The genetically engineered Kryptonian death machine is most famous for killing Superman in a 1992 comic book appropriately entitled "The Death of Superman" and he has become one of the hero's greatest foes.
A source also speculated to THR that, with more Justice League members popping up in the Man of Steel sequel, Momoa could play the Martian Manhunter, one of the core members of the League.
Zack Snyder will direct Batman vs. Superman, which stars Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White. The film is scheduled for release on July 17, 2015.
