'Star Wars 7' Casting Rumors: 'Skins' & 'Unbroken' star Jack O'Connell offered 'key role' in J.J. Abrams' 'Episode VII' for 2015 release?
There have already been countless casting rumors in regards to Star Wars Episode VII so we're glad to bring you the latest one that popped up this week! According to numerous reports, young actor Jack O'Connell has landed a "key role" in the upcoming J.J. Abrams film, hitting theaters in December of 2015. O'Connell is known mostly as James Cook from the television series Skins and stars in the Angelina Jolie-directed Unbroken. He is an up-and-coming name in the movie world so it wouldn't be surprising if this new casting rumor turns out to be true.
Though the role for which O'Connell auditioned is not known, considering the young Brits nationality one would assume it was the same one for which Doctor Who star Matt Smith allegedly auditioned. Read more on that rumor right HERE! That news is still unconfirmed, but it makes the most sense so far.
Bleeding Cool reports:
Jack O'Connell, who was excellent in Tower Block, Harry Brown, Skins and many more, is a real contender for a key role in Star Wars: Episode VII. I believe that he's met with Abrams and the signs I'm getting are that this meeting went very well.
Meanwhile, the website also points out that we've barely heard of any American names for the upcoming Episode VII auditions. Names like Saoirse Ronan, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Cumberbatch, Matt Smith, Rachel Hurd Wood, and Jason Flemyng have dominated the rumor mill. Though Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron were also attached to some rumors earlier this year.
Do you think O'Connell will star in Episode VII? Are you worried that American actors won't be involved?
