Swervedriver return after 15 years with new track 'Deep Wound'
Pardon me while I hyperventilate, y'all. Influential British shoegazers Swervedriver have returned with their first studio recording in over 15 years, the lush and pedal-driven "Deep Wound."
Also, because Swervedriver want to make everyone's day more fantastic, the track (which may be a reference to fellow fuzzed-out '90s rockers Dinosaur Jr.) features backing vocals from Ride's Mark Gardener. In a related tidbit, "shoegaze supergroup" is a bit of a tongue-twister.
All in all it's been an excellent year for long-dormant acts, especially those of the shoegaze variety. My Bloody Valentine caused the collective music press to explode by dropping the long-awaited m b v earlier this year and, with bands like Yuck and Joanna Gruesome hipping a whole new generation to the guitar-centric genre, Swevedriver couldn't have picked a better time to mount a comeback.
The band has also announced that they are prepping a new album for 2014.
