Drake hit with $200,000 lawsuit for missed shows in Chicago

Drake has really been in the giving spirit this holiday season and it looks like his list of recipients has gotten a little bit longer -- $200,000 longer.

A lawsuit from a Chicago-based company has been filed against Drake claiming that the Canadian rapper and his company, OVO Touring, have taken over $200,000 from a concert promoter without paying them back.

The company has filed a six-count suit claiming breach of contract, unjust enrichment, Deceptive Business Practices Act, among a bunch of other things.

The plaintiffs, Status Entertainment and partner company, Show-n-Off Entertainment, claim that they invested $202,800 in Drake's touring over a two-year period. The suit comes after they were not refunded when multiple Chicago concert dates fell through.

The missed dates mentioned include three concerts featuring Drake that never happened, counting a March 15, 2012 performance at UIC Pavilion and an October 18 concert at the Allstate Arena.

An excerpt from the lawsuit says:

"During these negotiations, Drake experienced a meteoric rise to the top of the music charts achieving worldwide fame and fortune. Instead of honoring their obligations, Defendants knowingly and intentionally breached the Agreements and refused to schedule the concert unless Plaintiffs gave them more money due to Drake's newfound fame."

The plaintiffs claim they have tried reaching out to Drake and his camp numerous times from November 2012 to April 2013, but they insist that the outreach was never returned.

Looks like Drake has gotten himself in a sticky situation, but it should be nothing for him to pay them back if what they're alleging is true, right?
