Adele's '21' named Amazon's top-selling album of all time

Adele's 21 has been named Amazon's top-selling album of all-time, according to The Independent. 

That the British singer's 2011 effort would come out on top of Amazon's highest-selling rankings is no surprise to anyone who has been paying attention. 21 was the top-selling album of 2011 and 2012, a feat that is unmatched in the SoundScan era.

All told, 28 million copies of 21 have been sold. Meaning, if the Earth has roughly 7 billion people, then about 1 in every 250 people on the Earth bought a copy of Adele's sophomore album.

Adele is also the only artist to have more than one album in the top 10. Her debut 19 came in at number 8.
