Shia LaBeouf plagiarizes 'Ghost World' creator Daniel Clowes w/ new short film 'HowardCantour.com', also plagiarizes Twitter apology

Earlier this week, Transformers: Dark of the Moon star Shia LaBeouf released a new short film that he directed entitled HowardCantour.com. Almost immediately after the debut of this project, it became very clear that this short was based on a Daniel Clowes comic entitled Justin M. Damiano, but Clowes was not credited in the short. Shia LaBeouf later admitted on Twitter to plagiarizing Clowes, but even his apology was plagiarized ... from Yahoo Answers!

Shia's short film is no longer available to watch online (clearly), but he did post this apology on Twitter:

"Copying isn't particularly creative work. Being inspired by someone else's idea to produce something new and different IS creative work. In my excitement and naiveté as an amateur filmmaker, I got lost in the creative process and neglected to follow proper accreditation. I'm embarrassed that I failed to credit @danielclowes for his original graphic novella Justin M. Damiano, which served as my inspiration. I was truly moved by his piece of work and I knew that it would make a poignant and relevant short. I apologize to all who assumed I wrote it. I deeply regret the manner in which these events have unfolded and want @danielclowes to know that I have a great respect for his work. I f-cked up."

Unfortunately for LaBeouf, the Internet is full of unforgiving sleuths and it was soon determined that even his apology was plagiarized! The first two sentences of his Twitter statement comes from a Yahoo Answers response to a question about Picasso's famous quote on plagiarism. Seriously!

Shia should have said, "I am f-cking up as we speak" for his final Tweet.
