Pussy Riot Members Will Be Freed From Prison

Last time we reported on the potential for jailed Pussy Riot members to be freed from prison, it came with a lot of "if's." IF the amnesty bill passes and IF it is determined that the jailed PR members fall under the new law. Well, we're happy to report that both of those variables have been accounted for and the two remaining jailed members  of PR will return home.

Though the band members were due to be released in March, it appears they will get out sooner due to the bill's passage. The amnesty bill is largely viewed as a means to clean up Russia's global image prior to the Winter Olympics in Sochi. Putin denies this, claiming the bill as a means of celebrating the 20th anniversary of Russia's constitution.

Putin also remained unrepentant about the jailing of the feminist punk band.

"I was not sorry that they (the Pussy Riot members) ended up behind bars," Putin told Reuters. "I was sorry that they were engaged in such disgraceful behaviour, which in my view was degrading to the dignity of women
