Selena Gomez lupus rumor around tour cancellation, stands up for fan on Instagram
Selena Gomez recently spoke of her fans' importance this December when she had to cancel the Australian part of her "Stars Dance" tour. Now, Popdust is reporting that a close source has revealed that Gomez is dealing with a flareup from her autoimmune disease, lupus. The publication claims this is the reason behind her tour cancellation, but reps from the Gomez team declined to respond. This adds to the list of rumored reasons for why Gomez cancelled, though Popdust is marking it as true (not rumored) information they gained exclusively. Symptoms of lupus include aches of the joints and head, tiredness and face swelling.
At the time she nixed the tour, Gomez said: "My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them. But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be."
Yesterday, Selena Gomez stood up for a fan on her Instagram account (@keylimegomez), when another commenter encouraged @keylimegomez to cut herself.
Gossip Cop reports that in her defense, Gomez wrote back: "That's not what I stand for so you can gladly stop being a fan of me. I only encourage love, confidence, kindness." She then went on to tell @keylimegomez she is gorgeous and don't ever try that again.
Gomez then posted her complete response as an Instagram picture, shown below. Since yesterday it's already received over 13,000 comments.
She has spoken in the past about the responsibility of girls and young women looking up to her.
