Perrie Edwards' fiance Zayn Malik Admits he didn't like being in One Direction at the beginning
One Direction is clearly the biggest musical act in the world, but the young boys deal with the fame that comes along with that differently. In fact, the quiet member, Zayn Malik, though possibly the most mature now that he's engaged to Perrie Edwards, has recently revealed that he pretty much hated being in the group at the start.
"I definitely found it pretty hard to begin with," Malik explained in a new interview. "None of us really knew each other that well and none of us was really prepared. We were thrown in it together. We went through the same things. Our mums crying when we left home because they weren't prepared either. I found it pretty hard at first."
"I was always trying to be too cool, like you do in school," the singer continued, stating the day-to-day troubles he's had to face. "I found it really hard talking to people, answering questions - you don't want to sound like an idiot, so a lot of the time you don't say anything at all."
Zayn explained that Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson dealt with these same troubles as well.
He said: "You realise everyone is in the same boat. None of us knew what we were doing. You can't take yourself too seriously, and you all start to relax into being who you are. I can't imagine how hard it would be to do this on your own - if you weren't in a band."
