Hollywood Star Angelina Jolie made a donation of $100,000 to aid Syrian Refugees, the United Nation refugee agency said.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Oscar-winning actress said "the international community should rededicate itself to preventing conflict, addressing it when it erupts, and solving it more quickly."

Jolie became Special Envoy of High Commissioner Antonio Guterres after several years of service as Goodwill Ambassador this year.

She also said, "Every individual refugee matters. Each has their own story. Each has suffered and survived more than I could ever bear. And yet, they rise up to live another day."

Her relationship with UNHCR began in the year 2001 when Jolie started to be aware of the worldwide humanitarian crisis while filming Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in Cambodia.

"Unfortunately, the world is producing displaced people faster than it is producing solutions to displacement. And the solutions are not exclusively humanitarian - they are also political."
