Is Dwayne The Rock Johnson up for John Stewart Green Lantern in 'Batman vs. Superman' movie?
The rumor mill is churning once again with regard to another DC Comics character that could potentially appear in the Man of Steel sequel entitled (for now) Batman vs. Superman, and the two names to remember are John Stewart aka Green Lantern and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
The Rock tweeted on New Year's Eve that he had a meeting with Warner Bros. about a DC project in 2014, and many fans' minds jumped to Batman vs. Superman. But a usually credible source named Peter Georgiou, who works for ThinkMcFlyThink, tweeted the following on Thursday:
"Rumor: I didn't hear this directly, but it's floating around behind the scenes in the industry: @TheRock is up for Jon Stewart. Shrugs."
If true, then there are multiple possibilities. One is that Johnson would appear as Green Lantern in Batman vs. Superman, a film that already seems packed to capacity with Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman confirmed and Lex Luthor, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter and more rumored for the project. Another option is that Johnson could star as John Stewart in a Green Lantern solo movie.
Just to add fuel to the fire, consider that The Rock sent out this tweet in April 2013 (via ComicBookMovie.com):
ThinkMcFlyThink has managed to land some solid news in the past, so it's possible they've done it again with this news about The Rock. Still, only time and an official announcement from Warner Bros. will tell.
