Monday Night Raw Results 1/6/14: WWE Raw Recap Jan. 6, 2014: Daniel Bryan debuts with Wyatt Family, Brock Lesnar rampages and Jake The Snake Roberts returns on Old School Raw
The Jan. 6, 2014 edition of WWE's Monday Night Raw emanates live from the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore and begins with Ric Flair, who welcomes everyone to Old School Raw. WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton comes out, hugs him and tells him how much he respects his mentor, but asks him to give him room to talk in his ring.
Orton says he already beat John Cena fair and square and he has nothing left to prove, so he wants the Authority to retract their announcement of a rematch at the Royal Rumble in three weeks. Flair laughs and says Orton is not the man because he was not out on the road seven days a week as champion. Flair tells him to just fight Cena and stop complaining.
Orton says it's funny that Flair always had someone backing him up, calls him overrated and tells him he was in his prime 25 years ago. Orton tells him to leave but Flair refuses and tells him Orton had a bad attitude in Evolution. Orton threatens him but Cena comes out to stop him. He tells Orton that he doesn't belong anywhere near Flair's resume and challenges him to a fight, but Orton backs out of the ring as Cena and Flair goof around in the ring.
Rey Mysterio and The Usos are in the ring after the commercial break and the Wyatt Family's music hits. They make their way to the ring with Daniel Bryan in tow, and he's wearing the new outfit he debuted during the Live Events last week. When the lights come on, the fans mix Yes!, No! and Daniel Bryan chants.
The match ends when Bryan tags himself in, then Luke Harper tags himself in immediately afterwards. Jey Uso rolls up Harper for the pin.
Brad Maddox says backstage that Damien Sandow will have a rematch with The Great Khali, and the fans will vote for Bob Backlund, Arn Anderson or Sgt. Slaughter as the special guest referee. Kane comes in and says he heard what Maddox said to the Authority last week. Maddox asks if Kane is going to hurt him but Kane says no because he would get fired. Kane says the monster will come back if Maddox messes with his job.
Big E. Langston walks backstage through a parade of legend including Ted DiBiase. He fights Curtis Axel with Ryback on commentary. Ryback tries to distract him, but Langston hits Axel with the Big Ending for the win.
Roddy Piper is out for Piper's Pit and starts to talk about Old School Raw but his guests, The Shield, interrupt him. Dean Ambrose says The Shield would have beat up Piper back in his day, but Piper laughs and says the only one who can match him on a microphone is CM Punk. Ambrose gets in his face, but Seth Rollins cools things off and says Piper's tactics won't work because there are no cracks in The Shield. Piper says Ambrose and Rollins can't beat Punk one-on-one, but Roman Reigns has a chance later in the night. If he does, Piper says he might be better than his teammates. Reigns says he will win and if Piper ever touches him again, then he will break him in half. They prepare to attack him but CM Punk comes out with the New Age Outlaws to make the save.
Alberto Del Rio gets a rematch with Sin Cara and gets his revenge with a superkick for the pin. He cuts a promo afterwards and says that everyone is talking about Batista in the Royal Rumble match, but they should be talking about him because he will throw The Animal over the top rope during the match.
Cody Rhodes and Goldust defeat The Real Americans when Goldust hits Swagger with the Final Cut.
Diamond Dallas Page is backstage when Booker T comes up to him. DDP practices some of his yoga and Booker T tries to do some too, but he pulls his knee. Ron Simmons walks up and delivers his "Damn" line.
The Great Khali comes out with Ranjin Singh for his match with Sandow. JBL announces the results of the fan vote for the special guest referee, and Sgt. Slaughter wins. Khali hits Sandow with a chop and pins Sandow, who puts his foot on the ropes. But Sarge doesn't see it and counts the three. Sandow yells at him after the match but Slaughter locks him in the Cobra Clutch. He kicks him out of the ring, raises Khali's hand and then dances with Singh and Khali.
Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman make their way to the ring. Heyman says Lesnar does not believe that "Old School" means bring out "Legends" and giving them a last hurrah. According to Lesnar, "Old School" is when one man reigns supreme and everyone in the locker room comes out to challenge him to be the man. He references how Bruno Sammartino, Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin reigned supreme and everyone wanted a piece of them.
Heyman says that's how it is again today because one man is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and he says no matter if it's Cena or Orton after Royal Rumble, you can just put an expiration stamp on him because Lesnar is coming for him. He puts over Lesnar by talking about how he destroyed Mark Henry without warning last week. He says it does not matter who challenges him because that man will always end up a loser.
Heyman points to Lesnar's shirt that says "Eat, Sleep, Conquer, Repeat" and as he repeats the phrase, Mark Henry's music hits. He makes his way to the ring and brawls with Lesnar briefly before The Beast puts him in the Kimura Lock and seemingly "breaks his arm." Heyman calls him off and they make their way toward the entrance.
They get halfway there and Big Show's music hits. The giant emerges and stares down Lesnar as he walks toward him. Lesnar backpedals, gets in the ring and gestures for Show to come get some. Show climbs over the ropes but Lesnar exits the ring. They start to leave, but Heyman distracts Show and Lesnar tries to attack him, but Show counters and tosses Lesnar across the ring. Lesnar rolls out and wants to go back in, but Heyman cools him off and guides him back to the entrance as Show just stares at him.
The Bella Twins face Aksana and Alicia Fox in a tag team match and the latter team picks up the win when Brie misses off the second rope and Aksana pins her.
Rikishi, Scotty 2 Hotty and Grand Master Sexay reunite for their first six-man tag team match in 13 years to face 3MB. Scotty 2 Hotty hits the worm on Drew McIntyre, Grand Master Sexay hits the Hip Hop Drop and Rikishi uses his backside to get the pin. The three then do their trademark dance to celebrate.
The Godfather leads the Legends out in a bizarre Ho Train as Justin Roberts introduces each of them. Bad News Barrett rises up and does his usual schtick, this time about the Legends on the stage.
Mean Gene Okerlund comes out and introduces the New Age Outlaws. Road Dogg does the intro and Billy Gunn does the "we got two words for ya" part. Road Dogg then introduces CM Punk, who comes out for his fight with Roman Reigns.
Punk calls for the GTS and Ambrose jumps up on the apron, but the New Age Outlaws intercept. Reigns hits the Superman Punch but Punk kicks out at two-and-a-half. Punk jumps over Reigns' spear attempt and tries to roll him up but Reigns kicks out. Punk tries to hit the GTS but Reigns counters. Ambrose gets up on the apron and Reigns uses the distraction to hit a spear for the win.
The Shield prepares to triple powerbomb him but Jake "The Snake" Roberts comes out. The New Age Outlaws rush the ring to fight off The Shield and Punk hits a spinning GTS on Ambrose. Jake pulls the snake out of the bag and rubs it all over Ambrose's face. The four men stand triumphant in the ring as the show goes off the air.
