BANSHEE Season 2 Premiere Episode 'Little Fish' Recap: Cinemax's Emmy-winning series returns with a bang! [SPOILERS]
Cinemax's award winning original series Banshee returned for its second season tonight and definitely made an impact. In the season two opener entitled "Little Fish," we see how a budding show that gained plenty of buzz last year is making sure to stay on the minds of everyone in 2014. Welcome back to Banshee, PA, where violence, sex and betrayal are everyday occurrences and justice is in the hands of whomever chooses to take it. (SPOILERS to follow)
Jumping right back into the aftermath of the season one finale, Sheriff Hood and his gang of deputies are under investigation by the FBI. We're introduced to a new character, Special Agent Racine, who we soon find out will stop at nothing to catch Rabbit. Unlike Anna/Carrie, Racine believes Rabbit made it out of season one alive and unless she can provide him with more information on her father, she's going to jail. Racine slaps the deputies with soft suspicions, but suspicions simply grow concerning Hood.
Meanwhile, the stress of last season and the FBI's involvement doesn't deter Hood, Anna, Sugar and Job from running an armored truck heist. Though they are interrupted by a mysterious machine gun-toting biker (revealed to be Nola Longshadow), they get away. Soon Hood has to take on this case as Sheriff, which plays out to his advantage. Hood also sleeps with Nola, adding another level of complications to his life and another steamy hookup to his list!
Speaking of steamy hookups, Rebecca is getting strangely close to her uncle, Kai Procter, so we're going to tread lightly on this situation. Kai is still the most antagonistic force of the show, but now he's feuding directly with Alex Longshadow. Despite his pact with the deceased Chief, Kai starts tormenting the young Longshadow (the final scene of season one was Procter blowing up the hotel next to the casino), so the Indians believe the former Amish crime lord is behind the armored truck heist.
Episode one of season two was a great example of how a crazy show like Banshee can come back with just the right amount of story and action to keep viewers hooked.
