Hilary Duff & Mike Comrie split, divorce likely: actress tweets about NHL hubby 'amicable' break up, ex-couple will share joint custody of baby son Luca
Hilary Duff and former NHL hubby Mike Comrie have officially split.
The ex-couple recently released an official statement to TMZ, insisting that "have mutually decided to an amicable separation" but will "remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives."
The 26-year-old actress' mom Susan also told the popular gossip webloid that she loves Comrie, but the duo make "better friends than a married couple." She also claims that Duff and Comrie have already decided to share joint custody of young son Luca. A rep for Duff adds that although they're no longer a union, the two are "dedicated to parenting their son together."
The break up seems to be going smoothly... and it's likely divorce proceedings will soon follow.
The former Disney starlet married the 33-year-old Canadian hockey player in Santa Barbara in August 2010. The couple welcomed baby Luca in March 2012.
Duff just tweeted:
@HilaryDuff: "Mike and I are sitting here,we are so appreciative for all of your kindness& well wishes. Not an easy day but we're getting thru it together."
The former couple were recently spotted (happily) together on New Year's Eve:
