Many fans of BBC's Sherlock are also very fond of Doctor Who, and vice-versa. It also turns out that Sherlock's leading man, Benedict Cumberbatch, is a bit of a Whovian. So when asked about the big change in the cast of Doctor Who (Matt Smith left the show and has been replaced by Peter Capaldi), the Star Trek Into Darkness star said he was simply "excited" for the upcoming 2014 episodes!

"[It's] great news," Cumberbatch exclaimed when asked about the Capaldi casting. "I'm very excited to see him in Doctor Who."

The actor added: "He is a class act, Peter, and a great actor."

Such kind words from a fellow Steven Moffat muse must be high praise for Capaldi. Fans will surely be delighted to know that Cumberbatch is also excited for the new season. Are you?

Meanwhile, another huge fan of Doctor Who is ... Peter Capaldi! The actor considers his latest role a dream come true and is very open when it comes to talking about it.

"I don't remember Doctor Who not being part of my life, and it became a part of growing up, along with the Beatles, National Health spectacles, and fog," he explained. "And it runs deep. It's in my DNA."

He continued: "It may surprise you now, but something like [First Doctor adventure] "The Web Planet" lived powerfully and expansively in my head for decades... until the DVDs came along and spoiled the party. But I'm glad to say that the Menoptra eventually flitted back into my dreams, where they belong."
