The Grammys are right around the corner and we're getting pretty excited for music's biggest night. In preparation for the show, the Grammys has released its Best New Artist Nominee spotlight profile series featuring Kendrick Lamar.

In the video K Dot discusses what it's like for a day in the life of the rapper. He also opened up about his humble beginnings, coming up in Compton and his hectic lifestyle which prompts him to write new lyrics just about anywhere he goes.

In addition to hitting the Grammy stage, Kendrick Lamar has seven nominations including Best New Artist, Album Of The Year and Best Rap Album. He is also nominated for Best R&B Performance, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Rap Song.

We'd say that's a pretty good way to start off the year. Kudos to K Dot!

And fans of the Compton rapper have plenty to look forward to this year. Last month, Mstars reported that Top Dawg Ent plans to release albums from the entire roster this year.

As far as the Grammys go, LL Cool J will return to host Music's Biggest Night.

The show will take place live on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The 56th Annual Grammy Awards will broadcast on the CBS Television Network from 8-11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

This should be a great show. Will you be watching?
