Kevin Durant drops career high 54 points in win over Golden State Warriors

Kevin Durant may very well be on his way to MVP status. KD and the Oklahoma City Thunder recently defeated the Golden State Warriors and Durant showed up and showed out, to say the least.

With Russell Westbrook out, KD being the star play he is led his team to a victory dropping 54 points.

Durant hit his new career high shooting 19/28 from the field, 5/9 from three, 11/13 from the free throw line. He also had six assists and four rebounds.

Although it was a close game, KD's MVP performance is undeniable. The Thunder finished with a 127-121 win over the Warriors.

Westbrook seemed pretty excited about KD's performance also. He sent out this tweet after the game:

"54 piece nugget with a side large fries .with extra salt ..lol .. STAY HOTT @KDTrey5  #MVP.... And I want a shake too lol"

Even LeBron James is impressed by KD's recent performances. During an interview with ESPN, he had this to say:

"Once a scorer like that gets going, you ain't going to stop him. I saw like the last 20 points he had, and they were all contested jumpers. He was hitting ... barely touching the net. When you're in a zone like that, it doesn't matter as a defender. There's nothing you can do about it. It was a big-time, big-time game for him."

We wonder what LeBron will have up his sleeve when the two face off during the first of their two regular season matchups on January 29 when the Thunder visit the Heat.
